Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been won on hardcourt

A revitalized Medvedev won his initial trophy for over two years with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

Medvedev, a former world number one, has experienced a torrid year, achieving just one match at the big events and undergoing a setback at the US Open.

His unpredictability on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serving in particular - led to him falling of the top ten and ultimately parting ways with long-term mentor his previous coach.

Now training with Johansson and his other coach, he has gradually progressed in the past month - climaxing in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This represents the player's maiden title following the Italian tournament and initial on a hard surface since March of 2023.

Success also signifies he has achieved twenty-one victories at twenty-one various events.

"For the first time I'm at a event with my children together, so to win a title is particularly special," stated world number 14 the champion.

"This championship is in honour of my younger daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I got when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had been defeated in his past six finals, including in the German tournament previously this season.

The player's counter-punching approach and frequent reactions on the tennis court had led observers to doubt if his skill to compete at the elite level was concluded.

However the athlete has made changes in the last few weeks, making an effort to approach the net and compete aggressively, reinforced by an improved service.

Medvedev came back from a break down in the opening set against the challenging Frenchman, winning 4 of the final five points to take the lead.

The pair exchanged breaks in the following set before Moutet, striving for his maiden tour victory, seized the initiative to force a third set.

The opponent saved 4 initial break points in a competitive deciding set before Medvedev broke to that score to serve for the match.

Suitably, he earned victory with a rally at the front of the court, with his opponent incapable to control a shot after over two and a half hours.
